I open up chrome to get logged into my campus internet (the connection is pretty laggy to get the page open on any other browser since it runs through my campus homepage, which is incredibly laggy) and then switch to firefox since firefox has all the addons I like.

I prefer Opera, but it does have its own issues you need to get used to. It's nice in that it loads pages quite fast, and that's also a bit of a weakness. It will load a page fast enough for you to do stuff with it before all the images have loaded, but if the image size isn't specified in the web page, Opera has to just guess (rather, give a tiny default size), and as the images are loaded, the page size will keep changing image by image. This can make it a serious pain in the ass to track where you're at on the page before it's finished loading.

If I load a really tall, narrow page with a lot of pictures and scroll down part way into the load, I can be bumped up or down several pages by the time it finishes loading.

That being said, if I don't care about the images, Opera lets you turn them off for a page which mitigates that issue. You can also block various images on a page, such as if someone has a stupid avatar, or whatever. I'm able to turn off the adds on TVTropes so it's much more readable. I also like that you can insert your own javascript into pages, save it so it always runs, or simply turn JS off on certain pages. This lets my bypass Snope's retarded issue of not being able to highlight (and copy) text on their pages.

I'm also a big Opera fan. Upgrading to 10.5X was weird because stuff like the auto-completion in the toolbar had to be fixed on my end to work like I'm used to (instead of autocompleting a url, it now goes to an automatic google search), but I'm happy with it.

Opera spoils me rotten - I don't know what I'd do if I actually had to use the internet (bit torrent, RSS, eMail, web, etc) with another program.
My son makes me laugh. Maybe he'll make you laugh, too.

Opera changed significantly from v6 to v7 and i didn't like the changes and quit using it.

I think that's been the only browser that I've loved instantly. Firefox and chrome have both taken me sometime to appreciate them.

although i don't like opera's integration of bt, and mail. they often fail horribly when you have to route through proxies and such.
